Comic Con 07 Wrap Up

Reddit

By Kellvin Chavez on July 30, 2007

Once again, Comic-Con has come to an end and there were a few things I came to realize from this years’ experience. First, I had a great amount of help from my crew, George, Ryan, Chris and Carolina; you guys did an awesome job. Second, our party was the fucking shit and for those of you who missed it check out the video above to see what sorts of things you missed.

Robert Sanchez and I already have plans for next year’s party, which is going to be a hell of lot bigger than this year.

Speaking of the party…. I would like to thank Milo Ventimiglia, Brian Taylor, and Mark Neveldine (Directors from Crank) and Lakeshore Entertainment for debuting the trailer for Pathology, which MGM picked up and is releasing on November 30th of this year.  While at the party I had a chance to chill out with Milo and he did one of the best Sylvester Stallone imitations I’ve heard in a while.

I would also like to thank the guys over at Dark Horse Entertainment for debuting the teaser trailer for The Descendants starring Ray Park.

Lastly Special thanks to Dark Horse Indie, McFarlane Toys and Antartic Press for the goodie bags that was handed out.

And now for the video interviews.

While I was posting these interviews I realized that we were credited a lot due to our script reviews.  I noticed the impact we have on certain movies, for example, SHOOT EM UP. You can check out the video interview we had with director Michael Davis HERE!

Another interesting video interview was with the director of IRON MAN, Jon Favreau, in which he said a few things about the site before we even got to the first question. Jon Favreau was on the money when he said that we are pretty even handed when we review scripts. CLICK HERE if you want to check that out.

So I have made a decision to continue doing script reviews and to keep them as spoiler free as possible and just give you guys, THE FANS AND READERS, what you want and not wait ‘til the studio decides when is it good to tell you anything.

We are NOT RUINING SHIT FOR THE FANS!  We are just giving them what they want, something the studios have to some day learn.

I know by making this decision, we won’t be getting any special treatment from the studio and that’s fine by me because it’s not like I get anything from them anyway, well sometimes I do, but 90 percent of the time I don’t ‘cause I just get lied to.

Studios have even called me to threaten me by saying, “OH IF YOU DO THE SCRIPT REVIEW FOR THIS MOVIE WE WON’T WORK WITH YOU ANYMORE.” So you know what?  Fuck it, my fans and readers are more important than a set visit or junket that the whole world got invited to.
I know that it is frustrating for the filmmakers but this is what we do.  And plus this whole script review thing is JUST AN OPINION PIECE folks so don’t get bent out of shape about it.  There is nothing illegal about it and as long as I, or any of my staff members, don’t have the script, it’s all good.  El Mayimbe just reads them and gives it back to whoever actually has it, so STOP FUCKING BOTHERING ME OR EL MAYIMBE ABOUT SCRIPTS.  We don’t have them period.  We give it right back to its proper owner.

And on that note, script reviews will continue and expect some goodies in the next couple of days.

Remember we are just giving good publicity to a film or bad publicity if the script is bad but then again there is never such a thing as bad publicity.  And to the studios…if you don’t like it then this is my goodbye and it’s been nice working with some of you, if you want to continue our relationship then fine, so be it.

A lot of my colleagues asked me which panel was the best or what was the best thing I’ve seen at this year Comic-Con.  And we all seemed to agree that the best panel so far has to be PARAMOUNT PICTURES and MARVELIron Man looks fucking awesome! And Beowulf looked great too.

Worst panel?  HMMMMM that’s a tough one, the one that stands out the most is Sony, wow that shit sucked culo.

Most interesting panel and footage I saw was Rob Zombie’s Halloween.

Most packed panel, even more packed than a studio panel, was for the hit TV show HEROES.  That shit was bananas, there were 10,000 fans waiting to get in.

It also seemed that this years Comic-Con was more successful for the TV shows than the big screen movies.

Our MASTERS OF THE WEB panel was pretty cool too, pretty good way to end the Con.

This was also the first year I brought my wife and she loved it.

Till next year folks!

I don’t have the time to post all the pics that we took so click on the photo of myself and Devin from CHUD.com and you have a good idea of how the party was and again just look at the video above as well.
