Comic-Con Report 2008: Race to Witch Mountain At The Disney Panel!

Sitting here at Comic-Con, I'm at the Disney panel. They just showed the trailer for Race to Witch Mountain. Not a lot of dialogue, we got to see shots of the UFO, Tony and Tia using their powers (including an SUV driving into Tony and the SUV stopping dead in its tracks. We also saw a shot of a giant alien (maybe?) in a battle suit called a Syphon (sp?) according to Dwayne on the Q&A panel. A lot of action scenes with Dwayne Johnson in the taxi cab and in chase scenes where Dwayne is trying to avoid a train. Movie seems to take place in Las Vegas. A lot of government agents chasing our protagonists.

The shots went by very quickly, so I'll have to wait until someone puts it up on YouTube (which I'm sure won't take long). The trailer looked cool, and this appears to be a huge re-imagining of the original films.

So far the Q&A is uneventful. Dwayne is actually really funny and really broke some guy's balls who asked him if he was going to give the people's elbow in the movie and Dwayne just started making fun of him, saying the weed in Texas must be really good. It was pretty funny.


In regards to the kids (Tony and Tia) the original Tony and Tia (Ike Eisenmann and Kim Richards) DO appear a lot according to the director in Race to Witch Mountain, so fans of the original have that to look forward to.

Some guy asked Dwayne if he kisses any guys in the movie because he hasn't done action in a while. Director Andy Frickman was making fun of Dwayne saying he starred in a 'friendly cowboy' movie in regards to Dwayne kissing any dudes in the new movie. (Not sure why he asked that). Dwayne said the tag line for his "friendly cowboy" film is 'Stay on for eight seconds' which had the audience cracking up. Dwayne is on fire here.
