Matthew Vaughn No Longer Directing THOR?

By Kellvin Chavez on May 8, 2008

Comic book superhero THOR is set be released about six weeks after "Iron Man 2," on to the big screen.  At one point sometime last year it was announced that Matthew Vaughn (LAYER CAKE, STARDUST) would direct the live-action version of  the film.

Apparently Matthew Vaughn is no longer directing the film....That is according to the trades.

Matthew Vaughn no longer is attached to direct the project because his holding deal expired December.

Marvel is waiting for a script polish from scribe Mark Protosevich ("I Am Legend").

"It's very much a Marvel superhero story but against the backdrop of nothing you've seen before," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in describing "Thor" as a period fantasy in the vein of "The Lord of the Rings."
