New 1-18-08 Monster ROAR

By Ryan 'The Rican with the Irish name' McLelland on August 29, 2007

The guerilla marketing campaign continues for 1-18-08 and while all the Gabboesque tricks fail to hook me (just name the movie already!) all of my friends keeping asking, "What about this movie with the trailer that was before Transformers?"

What about it indeed?

Yet the Internet has fallen in love with J.J. Abrams monster movie and continue to report on the tiniest detail that springs up.  I fully expect someone in three weeks to do a 2,000 word diatribe on the sneakers that one character is wearing in the flick.  Why?  Because I'm sure that's important!

So this week's news is about the Cloverfield site 1-18-08.com.  If you go to the site, which right now consists of five "snapshots" and then sit around for six minutes (which means open your browser and then leave it open while you go do anything else) you'll be suddenly interrupted by a monster’s roar.  If you are the sort of person that is waiting on baited breath for info on this movie, the roar is probably right up your alley.

The one cool feature I found at the website was that you could actually flip the photographs.  There’s only five at the moment but I found that behind these two…

There’s actually this written on the back…

Yeah…I just thought that was pretty dern cool and wish I could do that with my own Internet photo collection.  More Cloverfield news “as it develops”, I’m sure next week we’ll be talking about the tampons used at the going-away party before the monster attacks.
