New Batman, Dark Crystal sequel, Futurama in 2008!
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on January 5, 2008

Whoa! A slew of animated films are coming to a DVD player near you in 2008! The biggest would have to be Batman: Gotham Knight, (they really are running out of titles to put after the name Batman) an animated feature that takes place between the events of Batman Begins and this year's live action Batman: The Dark Knight feature. Maybe it's an hour and a half of Bruce Wayne rebuilding his mansion, or getting the Batmobile tuned up?
From the Wizard article:
Through six short stories—each penned by an acclaimed writer from the world of comics and Hollywood—the film explores facets of Batman often seen in the comics but never really explored in animation and film. And although each chapter can be viewed independently, they all link together thematically. One of three Japanese animation studios—Studio 4ºC, Production I.G and Madhouse—handles each segment, thereby differentiating the film from the “Bruce Timm universe” and opening up a brand-new artistic interpretation for the character.
Along with a new Batman feature, fans of the original Dark Crystal will be excited to know about a sequel also being released this year on DVD:
Set on the mythical planet Thra, the follow-up takes place years after the ending of the original and begins with Jen and Kira welcoming to their castle a guest from the center of the planet, Thurma the fire girl, who, in a desperate attempt to save her people, re-shatters the Crystal.
“The first few times it came up we thought it would be impossible because the first movie was such a huge production in its day. How could we even do something like that because it was such a huge undertaking the first time around?” admits Henson. “But then we started talking about a very interesting hybrid of puppets and CGI, and we realized it was doable and we got very excited about it.”
Along with this look for new Justice League, Next Avengers, Astroboy, Gatchaman and Futurama cartoon features!
