New Stills From The Day the Earth Stood Still and Max Payne!

The folks over at 20th Century Fox has provided Latino Review with some new stills from two of their anticipated films, The Day the Earth Stood Still starring Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. The other is film is Max Payne, starring Mark Wahlberg. Check out the stills below. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is 20th Century Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu Reeves portrays Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission – and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth." The Day the Earth Stood Still opens December 12th      Based on the legendary, hard-hitting interactive video game, "Max Payne" tells the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max (Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal. Max Payne opens October 17th

that Max has been dosed with the Valkyr drug, and is seeing hallucinations throughout the movie. That explains the angel of death, and sounds pretty badass, too.

Oh yeah and btw the drug "Valkyr" kinda gets it's name from "Valkyrie". And Valkyries are: "Any of Odin's handmaidens who conducted the souls of the slain to Valhalla." - AKA Angels of death. In the Norse Mythology they were described as beautiful maidens though, but I guess here it's kinda portrayed as an angel of death. And yes, it's not a real demonthing, like most of you've said. Can't understand what some of the people here are thinking.. "They weren't in the game!" .. yeah, so they've played the game, and they don't know about the metaphores and valkyr hallucinations..? Ehh. Some people are just plain dumb, I guess.

Neither one looks exactly like I've figured Max Payne looks like, but if you kinda look at the pictures cross eyed so your vision becomes blurry, keanu's second picture gives off a very max payne like vibe. Unlike wahlbergs :| I mean, really really crappy casting. And Mila Kunis? What the f... seriously.

Your complaining cos he doesn't look like Max Payne? So you want the Mark Wahlberg to walk around the entire film with a cheesy grin/ im taking a dump look that Max Payne has ( and don't mention the fact he don't look like that in Max Payne 2.) I dont care if there demons or Angels of death as long as they are metaphorical. From the trailer i think teh film looks promising, but i cant judge till i've seen it.

@ Stuart Hanning: "The actor is one of the worst he has no expression he just walks around saying his lines in a mombre tone." Max Payne always has a somber tone (at least i assume that is what you meant by mombre) in the game. the game is a very film noir story, therefore hardly any expression and an almost monotone, somber voice would be expected. therefore, if you had played the game, the way Wahlberg portrays Max would make sense.

Keanu reeves as an alien haaha. Max Payne looks like crap. He doesn't even look like Payne and he's a bad actor. The actor is one of the worst he has no expression he just walks around saying his lines in a mombre tone.

He talks about being haunted by demons of his past in the game. He talks about a winged demon sweeping him off his balcony and falling into the pits of his past in the hotel level. Go play the game, they're a metaphor for not being able to escape his own past.

Incase u guys didnt notice, the one with wahlberg pointing a long barreled shotgun on the ground, him and the background doesnt match. the lighting and the shadow!? the colour variations!? look at it man its so obvious. so dont make such ridiculous comments about why the heck hes pointing a gun on the ground

If you played the games you know that bullet time didnt slow down your rate of fire. Its not a deagle, looks more like a sig saur police issue .40cal, and the "bird thing" is the demons people see when they are high on valkyr (if you remember from the game) The Flesh of Fallen Angels. Gonna be an awesome movie.

And there were no demons. I read in an interview that they're just hallucinations from a drug (V, perhaps?) and not real life demons that they'll be fighting. Which I guess is cool, but don't go saying: "Oh, you must not have ever played Max Payne," when there wasn't a single demon in it, literal or otherwise.

Ah also forgot to mention how DUMB the Max Payne posters are. A Deagle firing off Baretta rounds at the pace of a sub-machine gun? And a giant bird looking p.o.s. behind him? Not to mention the second one with him pointing a smoking shotgun at the ground for no reason. And is that Mila Kunis?
