Out of Harry Potter Turkeys? Here's a James Bond Turkey
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on August 22, 2008

Without the fear of magic wands and wizards run amok around Thanksgiving, James Bond has grown a pair and will now be released on November 14th instead of November 7th.
Summit Entertainment was the first to respond by moving Catherine Hardwicke's vampire pic "Twilight" to Nov. 21 (Daily Variety, Aug. 18).
"We believe Nov. 14 is a great date that allows us to play straight through Thanksgiving and right into Christmas," said Jeff Blake, Sony chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution. "We believe this decision will give the public a wider opportunity to see the film over the holiday."
Within hours of the Bond pic's migration to Nov. 14, Universal decided to move R-rated comedy "Role Models" off of that date and open it instead on Nov. 7.
As it stands now, "Solace" goes up against 20th Century Fox's Nicole Kidman-Hugh Jackman epic "Australia," from director Baz Luhrmann, Overture's dramedy "Nothing Like the Holidays" and MGM comedy "Soul Men."
With Harry Potter out of the way for that holiday weekend, this pretty much guarantees that James Bond will have the month of November all to himself. I'm sure there was a collective "Whew!" heard all around the Sony offices in Culver City when Warner Brothers pulled their guaranteed money maker out of November.
Jeff Blake's quote up above reeks of how awesomely cheesy marketing execs are. The quote he said is so perplexing that he probably sat at his desk writing the thing out for five hours until he confused himself and that's what he came up with:
"14th instead 7th make good date, dur de dur de dur!"Giving it some more thought, this would have been more honest of a quote,
"Thank God Harry Potter is out of November because we were scared shitless."Muggles who are upset about Harry Potter's delay will just have to deal with badass fight scenes, awesome stunts, hot chicks and kick ass gadgets stuffed in their turkey instead of Hermione's underpants. Wait, is she even old enough for me to say that joke without being harassed by Chris Hanson?
