Showest: The Love Guru scenes

Reddit

By George 'El Guapo' Roush on March 12, 2008

Yesterday Dreamwork's CEO Jeffery Katzenberg was "surprised" on stage by Mike Myers, when Jeff said he wished Shrek could be with him now because of Shrek's success. Mike Myers then came on stage in a surprise appearance. He talked about how handsome Jeff is and what a great ass he has. He then introduced his co-star of The Love Guru Jessica Alba, who's stomach was so big in her black dress she could barely walk. They had some dumb banter back and forth which probably seemed cute and funny at the time Mike wrote it (Because you know Jessica didn't write any of it) but it was kind of lame. They then introduced some clips of Mike Myers' upcoming Austin Powers The Love Guru.

The first clip showed Myers as Guru Pitka doing his self help talk show. I wish I had recorded the whole thing, but he talked about his former Guru teachers who all had double entendre names like Hasasmallpenis or something along those lines. He talked about his motto, and the first letter of each motto came to spell out E.I.E.I.O.

The second scene was him and Alba having a dinner. They had a delicacy from his country which was a pair of nuts, leading into nothing but nut jokes. He then asks Alba "Oh, would you like some soup instead?" "Yes." He then told his servant Rajneesh (Manu Narayan) "Rajneesh, I'd like some alligator soup and make it snappy. Because alligators are snappy." Ok...

The next scene was him going onto Jacques Grande's (Justin Timberlake) property where Justin was wooing some black girl while Myers was outside fighting a rooster. We were shown scenes from the rooster's point of view as it was tearing up Myers' face. It just wasn't funny.

The last scene was like a music video showing different clips and a flat stomached (pre Cash Warren sperm infestation) belly dancing Jessica Alba.

The clips just weren't funny and I can see why it's taken Myers so long to do a new live action movie.  It was like he was writing Austin Powers then changed his mind because the style of humor was exactly the same. I don't have high hopes for this film because Myers doesn't seem to care about stretching his comedy styling one bit. We've already heard and seen these jokes before so hopefully buried within the scenes we haven't seen will be some fresh material.
