Spielberg Talks Indy 4, Transformers 2, And Tintin
By Kellvin Chavez on October 9, 2007

What an interesting afternoon I had so far, the good folks over at Paramount Pictures invited me along with some other online journalists to have a small quick chat with director Steven Spielberg over at Amblin Entertainment offices in Universal Studios.
I am not going to bore you with stuff cause this wasn’t A SET VISIT or anything like that.
What was freaking awesome was that while finishing lunch at Universal Studios WE SAW HARRISON FORD IN FULL INDIANA JONES COSTUME getting lunch, we also saw Shia LaBeouf and John Hurt, they too were in costumes but seeing Harrison Ford in that full FEDORA costume was awesome, I felt like was 10 years-old again. Harrison Ford looked really good.
After that like I said before we ended up talking to Steven Spielberg. He came in all causal with his cap on and shook everyone’s hand and sat down to talk about a few things in regards to the recent thief that happened in the Amblin offices that had a lot of information like photos etc etc of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL.
We didn’t have a recorder for this so I am just going to tell you what I remember. We were only told that we can run this piece at the last minute, hence the reason we didn’t have a recorder.
So here is what he said about
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, a bit about
TRANSFORMERS 2 and about
TINTIN. Tintin is a young Belgian reporter and world traveler who is aided in his adventures by his faithful dog Snowy.
On Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull- Indiana Jones will wrap in two days.
- Indiana Jones is shot on film not digital, he is old school, and Spielberg would be the last person to shoot on digital.
- Harrison Ford does all his stunts and that Harrison Ford’s stunts now are no different than what Harrison did on the last three Indy films. He was that good and he is in great shape for a 64 year old.
- Spielberg felt that REDs (the Russian villains) are as a good a villain as were the Nazis in the Indiana Jones films.
- The poster for the film will be done by Drew Struzan.
On Transformers 2- There is a story that will be handed in next week and its on fast track depending on how the writers strike goes strike. But if they strike, (which will happen) the film will be delayed.
Tintin- This is Spielberg’s first motion capture film.
- He and Peter Jackson are very close to the project.
- Spielberg is directing one, Peter Jackson is directing one.
- No word on who is directing the third film but if they don’t find a director, both Spielberg and Jackson will do a Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez thing where both will direct the third Tintin film.
- He is going to work hard to make sure a lot of people are aware of Tintin because that character is huge overseas and Canada but not here in the USA.
That’s all I can remember folks. Like I said what a interesting afternoon…. better yet what a great afternoon.
Thank You Steven Spielberg and Paramount Pictures.
