Tom Cruise Not Worth A Grain Of Salt
By George 'El Guapo' Roush on July 20, 2008

Fox News "writer" Roger Friedman wrote an article about how Cruise won't be playing a fictional CIA officer by the name of Edwin A. Salt. Here's the reasons why, according to Roger:
Apparently, Tom is unaware of the change in his status in the Hollywood community. Where once he was the top-paid star, Cruise now is in a position where a $20 million salary is not possible. I’m told an internal memo went around among the film’s producers and top creators in which the Cruise situation was discussed and names were gathered for a replacement.
The reasons for Cruise’s departure are not just his diminished popularity, negative public opinion and Scientology — although those would be good enough. It’s also just generational. Cruise is 45. His heyday as a box office star — if he ever had one — is over.
Like past huge leading action stars such as Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cruise must face the brutal facts of aging. Ironically, he’s been replaced by Will Smith, whom Cruise has courted for Scientology. Talk about rubbing "Salt" in a wound!
Of course, it doesn’t help that his last big feature, "Mission: Impossible 3," was eons ago, in Hollywood terms — 2006. On top of that, even a film shot now and released next summer would have to erase in the audience’s mind Cruise’s upcoming release, "Valkyrie," aka The Nazi Movie, due next February.
Uh. Tom Cruise has made over 2.7 billion in box office dollars and he's no longer bankable because he's 45? Is this guy kidding? According to this logic, Christian Bale will no longer be a draw when he turns 45. Will Smith is a few years away from anyone wanting to see his films (I actually reached that point 10 years ago), Robert Downey Jr. will be taken out back and shot in the head like Old Yeller in a couple of years. Brad Pitt should just stop making movies because he's getting close to 45. Obviously George Clooney has some nerve being the lead in movies since he's now
past the age of 45. I'll watch Tom Cruise in any role any day over the current flood of young untalented jackasses currently swarming theaters. Roger also says Scientology is another reason he's no longer a draw, yet Will Smith is a Scientologist and is a draw? What? I don't get it.
This is why I can't stand Fox News. They just seem to want to make shit up and say the stupidest things. And coming from a guy who writes stupid things every day, that's a pretty big insult. You know what? I'm not even going to link to this story. Because I'm throwing a big baby internet fit right now.
Write something smart to this stupid person. No, not Roger Friedman, the other stupid person:

I am tottally with you on this one.... i dont care what anyone says about him as a person, you only need to look at his back catalogue of films to realise what a great actor he is... Magnoia being one of my personal favourites of his roles. The guy is a great actor, and i will be in line to see his films as long as he continues to make them!
