UPDATED: Dr. Who Is Destro!

By Ryan 'The Rican with the Irish name' McLelland on February 11, 2008

I love the relaunched Doctor Who and loved Christopher Eccleston's short time as the Doctor.  He made a small wave when he guested on Heroes and now...?

It looks as if British actor David Murray, cast as Destro in the G.I. Joe flick, is unable to obtain a working visa.

Murray = Out.  Eccleston = In.

The good Doctor seems an interesting choice for the role, he certainly has a great voice.  It'll be interesting to see how they actually pull off Destro's look in the flick...

And here's the official announcement from The Hollywood Reporter:

Chris Eccleston has been cast as the villainous Destro in Paramount's "G.I. Joe." Repped by Endeavor and Principal Entertainment, Eccleston's credits include "28 Days Later" to "Heroes."

Irish-born actor David Murray originally had been set for the role, but withdrew from the film because of visa issues.

Stephen Sommers is directing the latest script penned by Stuart Beattie.
